It’s been a long time coming, but at last the holiday is here. I have no fixed plans and intend to go with the flow, but mostly catch up on sleep, write ‘Catherine’, read the papers and generally lounge around.

Victoria’s gone to Jordan for the week so I am without my driver, although I may send out an SOS to one of the other expat teachers if I develop cabin fever.  There are a few blogables in the offing, such as a visit to the American Base, a meeting of the Bahrain Writers’ Circle, ( yes I have double checked the venue),  and a life changing event, worth mentioning, as it may result in a more interesting experience for you, my faithful blogees.

Let me explain. At the end of a busy day at work, during which my brain had been put through the washer, spinner and drier by my delightful six year olds, I staggered to the school hall for a meeting with the Zain reps.  Zain being the equivalent, in mobile phone speak to O2 or Vodaphone back home.  To cut a long story short, we have a corporate deal with them, and I am expecting delivery of an iphone 4s, which, I am told, will change my life.

Meanwhile, as I await the metamorphosis, I’m reading my daughter’s Christmas present, a book called ‘When God Was a Rabbit’, by Sarah Winman, which is shaping up well.
