Cooper’s

COOPER’S

Lying in a slender

leather box,

my Grandad’s

work worn brushes

could elicit tales

of years gone by

from mum

who, when a child

had watched

while he,

with artist’s skill,

would

work to make the

window signs

for Cooper’s Stores

in town.

I’d pass the

coffee scented

shop,

dark oak and

shining brass,

and would

remember him,

and how I’d held

his brushes,

and the

precious leather box.
