Cairo Nights

30 Jan

In Cairo wild dogs bark at night,

But only when the fireworks have died,

And when the barking dogs subside

The warring cats arrive,

And car horns,

Loud and rude intrude,

With now and then a siren wale,

So though you rest your sleepy head,

Till dawn and daylight bright,

Be warned of stormy hours ahead,

For only ancient pharaohs sleep

On moonlit Cairo nights.
